Solution
Do not buy any laptop with a crap AMD "E" APU. They are crap.

Get the following 15.6" HP laptop from Bestbuy which has 3rd generation Core i3 running at 2.4GHz. It will have an Intel HD 4000 which is capable of playing some non graphics demanding games. Based on my experience with testing Skyrim on an Intel HD 3000 graphics core, that game should be playable with a mix of low and medium settings. The Mass Effect trilogy will definitely be playable and so will the Batman Arkham series. There are other games it can play as well with low / medium settings just do a search on youtube using "Intel HD 4000 games" or something similar.

Bestbuy may not actually have it in the store. If that is the case you it will be shipped to the store for picks after you buy it.

I forgot to mention that he has the money on a amazon gift card, but i cant find anything like that laptop that jaguars put, its an impressive price for a core i3, the option 2 that Gamer Drone put is quite good and cheap, also gaming is not important is mostly for web browsing and office works

Okay, that kills my suggestion then.

Get the following Dell Inspiron 15 i15RV-953BLK for $300.

http://www.amazon.com/Dell-Inspiron-i15RV-953BLK-15-6-Inch-Laptop/dp/B00F4MEK6E/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1386184105&sr=1-2&keywords=laptop

It come with an Ivy Bridge generation Pentium 2127U; basically a Core i3 CPU, but no Hyper Threading. The Ivy Bridge generation Intel HD graphics core's (no model #) performance is basically in between the Intel HD 2000 (Sandy Bridge) and the Intel HD 2500 (Ivy Bridge).

Not only is the E-300's CPU performance pathetic against an Ivy Bridge generation Pentium CPU, the Radeon HD 6310 integrated graphics core is also much less powerful. That's the Ivy Bridge generation Intel HD is a high performance graphics core, though.

You can go with Pentium but i personally feel the AMD E series with the AMD Raedon graphics will have a bit of a edge over the Intel Countepart ... Also the Hp Lappy more tried and tested .. Again my personal recommendation..Dont wanna fight over it !
