There is something my little sister did (or didn't) do to my laptop; ever since I let her use it, I am forced to use really low volume levels.

If I pitch it even a little bit higher, it makes a flute-like noise. However, if I plug in my headphones or any regular earphones, I am able to hear properly. I can even pitch the laptop's volume to whatever level I please.

This is eating me up. I need help

My laptop's a Lenovo Thinkpad Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 CPU T5500 @ 1.66ghz, 2gb RAM

Open the proprietary Sound Control Panel (may also be called Audio Manager) inside the main Control Panel. There may even be an icon directly to it in the Notifications Area (it's called the System Tray on planet earth).

She has probably been messing about in there trying out different sound effects, different equaliser settings, and different "environments". Some of them produce very weird effects (bathroom etc).

Thank you for your response.

I am not conversant with computers, so I ran the traditional system restore. Now my laptop, for now, is back to the way it was.

I will update if anything goes wrong in the near future. Thank you for your help
