I have an HP Compaq CQ61-414NR Notebook that needs a new battery, and rather than paying $100 for an HP battery I decided I am going to get a third-party one. I saw the one here http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004GELHJO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1U1INP5E741JX and noticed how extremely cheap it was (can be a good, but also usually bad, thing) and that it says it is 8800 mAh, more than double the original battery (should that worry me or make me happy?). I also noticed it is a no name company. I saw the one here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1Y110S5585 that says it offered an 18 month warranty (usually there is just 1 year) and it seems to a better company (and it is a named company), but it more than double the cost. Which should I get?

I've had really good luck with inexpensive batteries from eBay. I look for the ones that have a 3-year warranty, and I've never had an issue*.

*Ok, I have had issues... But ONLY with Dell replacement batteries/chargers. Many times - for me - it's a bad chip on the MoBo, and they refuse to acknowledge any thing you plug into them.

Any other brand though, I've not had an issue. In the few cases when there has been, it was always replaced under the 3 year warranty.
