Can you change the wifi compatibility on a laptop?

You would have to find a suitable card to install within the laptop. This assumes the laptop has a removable card and that is antennas work well at the frequency you want to use(a is 5ghz. some N is also 5ghz, but not ALL).

A quick google gives lots of results for changing notebook wireless cards.

EDIT

RealBeast, good point. While I tend to not use usb wifi cards much(I try to use wired as much as I can). they do get the job done without opening the laptop or even desktops.

You need to add a 5GHz USB wireless adapter that has 802.11a capability also like THIS ONE for example.

places like newegg/amazon/ect may sell the card you are looking for, but you would still want to ensure you can access the card.

Would a wifi usb stick work for you? may be more easy as suggested by RealBeast.

Well, I guess it is time to hit up your favorite computer store to find a card that is the same interface and size as the one in your laptop.

Again, this assumes you have a removable card. Some untrabooks do away with cards to save space.

If you use a USB adapter you need to disconnect it after shutting down and reattach -- don't leave it in when transporting. The advantage is that they are usually cheaper, and unless you are good with laptops they are easier to install.

No, you just stick it in a USB slot and install the driver, it is very simple and on 99% of Windows 7 machines I don't even have to install the driver, it just works plug and play.

1. It is not a gaming system, If games is the number one use, look for something with better video.
http://www.anandtech.com/show/7047/the-haswell-ultrabook-review-core-i74500u-tested/7 Your cpu is also shown in these benchmarks. You would need low settings to make most games run better. LoL does not have requirements of the games tested in this link, but gives you an idea of gaming performance.
2. The basic hardware seems to be Windows 8/8.1 ready. Honestly, I do not see a reason to upgrade with 7 being fine for most users.
3. Based upon images from the internet, you would need a bit more work to get to the internal network card(this is IF it is upgradable. That info is not available from what I can see.). The USB stick is simple as plugging in a keyboard

The cpu portion is not as fast. The video may be similar(it is also a part of the cpu), but the cpu would hold it back would be my guess.

Samsung does not even give what model of APU it is, but my guess is one based on a A6-1450.

It is more of a netbook than anything.
