Hey guys.
Buying a laptop soon, about $900. Looking for moderate/not intense, gaming performance. Should I get an I-5 Intel or I-7? Also, I'm preferring 4th gen ATM.

Help me out please. I really only play Minecraft, Garry's Mod, Borderlands 2, things around that range. I know what I need for GPU Performance (nVidia GeForce GT 740m through 755m), but I don't know whether to go with a 4th Gen Intel I-5 or I-7. What would be the better choice?

Well it's really an open choice. I don't really have an exact opinion of model for either processor. I would like (preferably) 2.4 Ghz in the I-7 with Turbo Boost to 3.4, or like 1.8-2.0 Ghz on the I-5 with Turbo Boost to 2.8-3.0 Ghz.

I can find some more info if you need it, but I'm not very knowing about processors right now. Thanks!

Here is one laptop I'm considering. http://www.xoticpc.com/sager-np7355-clevo-w350st-p-6465...

And at the pre-built specs. I'm thinking the GeForce GTX 765M would make up for the I-5 over I-7 for the processor. Take a look, I wouldn't be customizing that at all, just buying the pre-built version.

I saw that post before but could only get to this site, with the base being $825 USD, which is still good, but it's not the $680 previously claimed.

We'll not really for me considering I personally would have to add the OS for another $100 or so and upgrade the RAM to 8GB, bringing the price to close to $1,000.

After browsing for a bit, found a few more options.

Asus with GT 750M, I7-4700HQ, 8GB RAM, Windows 8, 1TB 5400RPM, all at about $940. http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-n550jvdb71-p-6115.html?wcon...

Toshiba Satellite with GT 740M, I5-4200U OR I7-4700MQ, 8GB RAM (by time I buy) 500GB min 5400RPM, at about $900. http://www.toshiba.com/us/computers/laptops/satellite/P...

Also a Lenovo Y510P with GT 755M, I7 (don't know exact model, most likely 4700MQ), 8GB RAM, 1TB + 24GB SSD at about $900 as well. Don't have link, won't work on the iPad Mini I'm using for this thread (out of town).

Debating the Asus and Lenovo, looking more towards the Lenovo.

We'll I prefer to stay at $900 or lower. GeForce GT 755M is plenty for me, and with an I7-4700MQ and 8GB of future-upgradeable RAM and a 1TB 5400RPM + 24GB SSD (even though small, the little addition of the SSD will help some with boot/load speeds), red LED backlit keyboard and Windows 8 64-Bit for exactly $900, the Lenovo Y510P looks awesome.

The y510p is a good choice if you are fine with gt 755m. It obviously won't be as good as the gtx 765m, but if it fits your needs then the other things it comes with makes it more worth it.

I have it's 14" cousin and love it (y410p)
