I have a Toshiba Satellite, maybe three years old? Out of nowhere this happened. It literally worked fine one night, woke up the next day to this. There didn't seem to be any warnings that I can think of. It wasn't extra slow or crashing constantly or anything like that.

It powers on, like the lights come on. You can hear the fans, and the hard drive sort of? I assume it's the hard drive I'm hearing. It's like one short hard drive sound and then just fans/black screen. No response otherwise. The HDD light doesn't come on though. The screen is definitely black/dead too. I've tried holding lights to it and opening it at a 30 degree angle or so and theres no text what so ever. Nothing seems to make a difference there. I usually mute my sound so I don't think I'd be able to hear any windows sounds upon start up. I don't have an external monitor to try that either. There's no beeping or other strange sounds. I can only describe the ones I do hear as normal computer sounds?

I have tried unplugging it and taking the battery out and holding the power button but that doesn't seem to make a difference.

I was looking into buying a dock hoping I could save the stuff off my hard drive if not my laptop completely.

So if no one can think of what caused this, if I can fix this even, does it sound like my hard drive can be saved at least?
