I have set my eyes on 2 laptops from Best Buy:
Toshiba Satellite P55-A5312 $529,99
Asus Q501LA-BBI5T03
Both have basically the same specs
6gb Ram (upgradable to 8gb)
Full HD Reolution
750 GB HDD
Third Gen i5 4200U
Bluetooth
Webcam
Backlit Keyboard
HMDI
USB 3.0
Same weight, and diminsions.
Windows 8

Diffrences:
Toshiba: Has CD/DVD reader, not touch screen $200+ cheaper
ASUS: No CD/DVD Reader, Touch Sceen. Battery is also hardwired into laptop, must have professinal change if it ever goes bad.

Based on looks the ASUS wins hands down, think its a beautiful design. The Toshiba is very nice too but not as good as the ASUS. Is the touch screen worth the $200 more?? I also think that I would like to have the CD player.

Well like I said it all comes down to what you feel you want in a computer. If you're ok with the 1.6 - 2.6 w/ turbo boost go with the Toshiba. They're durable as hell.

But I just can't shake the feeling that for the price you can find something atleast 20% better.

I'll look again @ the Best Buy site.

Also when you say "must be from best buy" Do you mean from it's website only? And @ that do you mean that you can basically order anything from their site?
And of course. You're welcome.

Personally I wouldn't pay the extra 200$ for the touch screen.Unless you plan on using the touch screen over the conventional keyboard and mouse, it's a waste.

I find both processor speeds to be pretty weak. For that price I would expect atleast a 2.6 or higher quad core. Instead you're getting a 1.6 dual core with turboboost up to 2.6.

The non-removable battery is also a turn off for me. Batteries go bad... Period. If you want to shell out your hard earned money for a "professional" to change you battery than be my guest. Just seems kinda like a sham to me.

No cd/dvd reader? Odd. And again. A turn off.

I suppose it all depends on what you're looking for in a computer.

If you want the looks of the ASUS get the ASUS
If you don't care about the touch screen but want basically the same thing just not as pretty and alot cheaper go for the Toshiba.

I'm going to do some research and find you the best buy for your money and see what you think about it.

I also thought that the 1.6 ghz is pretty low but with it being turbo boosted to 2.6, I figure it could avg out to around 2.0. Which for basic day to day use should work just fine. I honestly do not need the touch screen, was just an extra. I also agree that the non removable battery is a big problem for me. When I was talking to the guy at best buy he said that its hard wired into the computer. That I think is the turning point where I started thinking about the Toshiba. Thanks for your speedy response too! The only thing that I must have to the backlit keyboard, and 10 keypad. Also must be from best buy, just paid off my rcedit card and need a new toy lol

With the options you're given I'd say go with the 529$ Satellite. For the price and because you're so limited to what you could get it's probably going to be your best bet for something in your price range.
