My Sony Blu Ray player has worked satisfactorily for 18 months in interface with a KDV40NX720. The Blu ray player is not connected to the internet. However the TV is connected over wireless to the internet. Recently after I downloaded Media remote on my TV and updated Sony content - surprisingly I found my BDV player working erratically. The woofer has stopped getting an audio signal. The tuner function no longer appears.
The Sync function on the TV with HDMI also behaves erratically.
The Sound button on the BDV player fails to show pre-set modes and only shows "Auto".
The audio setting function does not show up.

I tried to re-install factory settings but it does not work.

Is it a software problem?? Is it possible to connect my player directly to the internet and solve the problem?

i've read of some software updates on tvs causing all sorts of problems.

perhaps you can roll back to an older version and it might fix your problem. hopefully this is possible for you and it fixes your problem

restoring to factory settings may only be changing user configurable settings like contrast, sharpness, etcetera back to defaults and it might not be rolling back to the original software.

hopefully its not like some problems i've heard of where its non-recoverable. i've even heard of an update killing hdmi support which were not recoverable without replacing a board in a tv.
