Whenever I turn on my laptop, a screen shows that says:
Intel UNDI, PXE-2.1 (build 082)
Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation

For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v1.0.0.3 912/29/08)

Check cable connection!
PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key.

I have no disk drive, though so I don't know what to do...a friend gave me this laptop and I do not have any papers with it. ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. Thanks

Your laptop is attempting to boot off the network. You need to enter the BIOS setup, go to the Boot menu, and have your hard drive at the top of the list (i.e. the boot priority). If your hard drive is not showing up, try physically removing it and reseating/reinstalling it, then check the BIOS again.

If it still does not show up (or if it does and is set first in the boot menu, but you still get said message), then you can more or less conclude that either the drive is faulty, or the connector on the laptop is faulty and won't pick up any storage drive.
