Mic sound lowers proportionally as speaker volume increases?

So I have an issue with my laptop currently. Whenever I am trying to talk to people with skype, it will lower my mic output volume proportionally as my speaker output gets louder. Say if sound isn't playing at all, I am extremely clear, while if sound is playing it is almost as if my voice is being cut out/garbled/distorted. It's to the point to where if my speaker is so loud, they say it sounds like my mic is muted and nothing is getting transmitted. Than when the loud sound stops it's back to extremely clear. Resulting in a lot people saying constantly your cutting out.

This happens with both a cheap turtle beach headset and using the built-in webcam mic. I have absolutely no idea what is happening and my friends say it's getting extremely frustrating to actually talk to while I'm playing a game, because they don't actually hear my speakers just the issue I'm describing.

I should also mention I'm running an Alienware M14x (blah, blah, Christmas present, and in college) specs below

I7 3630qm 2.4ghz
6gb DDR3 1600
GTX 660M
500gb HDD
win7 64bit

If anyone can help me solve this, it would be great.

Solution
Hi
If you go into the tools section on skype and then options then audio settings you will see tick boxes for adjusting the microphone and the speakers automatically try unticking these.
