Long story short, my sisters birthday is tomorrow and my parents left it to me to find her a laptop that can run minecraft.

1. What is your budget?
$500 (It's fine if you go a *little* over the budget)

2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
Doesnt really matter.

3. What screen resolution do you want?
Again, doesn't matter.

4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
Something portable.

5. How much battery life do you need?
At least 3 hours.

6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
Minecraft on its best settings.

7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
She's probably just going to watch videos, surf the web, and play flash games here and there.

8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
At least over 300GB

9. If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post their links.
www.bestbuy.com
www.newegg.com
www.amazon.com

10. How long do you want to keep your laptop?
The longer the better.

11. What kind of Optical drive do you need? DVD ROM/Writer,Bluray ROM/Writer,Etc ?
Just a standard DVD ROM

12. Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
My parents have had some issues with Toshiba so they'd prefer not to buy one.

13. What country do you live in?
United States

14. Please tell us any additional information if needed.
Just need some quick answers as her birthday is tomorrow.

Solution
$550 base price, loads of features, about as powerful as you can get at that price, just $50 less loses a lot of performance.

It uses an A-10 quad-core with the 8650G integrated APU graphics. Specs:

I don't think you'll do better than that Lenovo. The screen resolution is only 1366x768 but that's also typical at this price.

I also suggest you get START8 if you feel that's useful, as well as apply the 8.1 update (in the STORE link if all Microsoft Updates are applied.)

Also if you need this thing FAST (seems like it) then you can try this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Payment-Pricing/Best-Buy-Low-Price-Guarantee/pcmcat297300050000.c?id=pcmcat297300050000

Basically you call your local BestBuy and if they have it in stock (in-store) they'll price match it for you, so you can buy it on the spot and not have to wait for shipping. Or you could just order it from Newegg and it will probably get there on Monday.

If you call BestBuy instead of going there, they will need the model and sku#: Lenovo G505s (59373010)
Also, if you get it in-store you might get the upgrade disc for 8.1 or some other deals and you can earn points on your BestBuy rewards, hope this helps!
