Is there any way to replace the sound card on an Acer Aspire 5750?

I recently heard a little pop and my sound went out on my computer. I can't get sound from videos or music through the speakers or headphones. I tried reinstalling the drivers and even went as far as to factory restore the entire computer but it is still not working. When the volume is turned up I get a low white noise and when they are muted I get nothing (obviously).

I ordered a USB sound card for the time being, but I'd like to replace the sound card or see if there is a way to install some sort of new sound card in an extension port so I don't have to worry about having that or that failing as well.

I'm also not sure if the original sound card is integrated into the mother board or not, which if it is I'll just have to accept the fact that I'm screwed. If not I'd like to know where it is so I can try to replace it!

Also my warranty with Acer ran out a month ago and I'd rather not pay the $200 to reinstate it, and if there is no other option I'll likely just replace the computer entirely and sell this one for parts or donate it.

Thanks,
-Brandon

The sound card is build onto the motherboard. You would have to replace that. Doing that, you may as well replace the entire system.

The USB sound cards seem like your only option.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I figured.
