Hi I am going to invest in astro a40 and I want to get a good sound card to maximize my experience in playing FPS. My motherboard is the MSIn z87-gd65 gaming motherboard. Some cards I was thinking is like the sound blaster Zx or the Asus xonar essence stx. I listen to mucic while I play, but I would like a card that is good for footsteps , more on the gaming side

Yes the Xonar series supports 7.1 (but check to make sure because some of the series may not). Personally, I will never buy another pair of gaming headphones. These are light and comfortable (especially if you wear glasses like me). Probably wouldn't be great if you're looking for sooper dooper audiophile sound quality, but these have great sound quality for gamers and standard music/movie users.
