I am trying to figure out what is wrong with an Asus G50vt laptop. When I try turning it on, the power lights come on for a second and then shut down, and will not even do that until I unplug the charger from the laptop and then plug it back in again. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried calling them, they suggested that I hold the power button for 30 seconds and see what that did. I did that and nothing changed. I was wondering if it might be the emergency shut off button at the bottom might be causing the problem.

I've had troubles with my ASUS G50V a couple of times where it did not turn on. :ange:

Two simple suggestions.

1st Option
Unplug.
Take your battery out of slot.
Plug-in directly to laptop (without battery).
- If it works your battery is the issue, if not there's something else.
- My battery has failed twice with this machine so this is probable

2nd Option:
Unplug the battery.
Open the screws in the back.
Take out memory and push it back in.
- This worked for me, when I dropped the laptop once.
- You can YouTube this procedure, if unfamiliar. I suggest searching for "replace RAM in Laptop"

willgamit, I tried doing the options that you suggested and it still doesn't work. I think that it might be the emergency disconnect button on the bottom of the laptop, but i took the whole thing apart and did not see anyway to disconnect it, short of taking the solder off.
