I hane an Acer Aspire V3-571G with i7 3610qm and 4 gb ram and GT 640m. For quite some time (months by now), this laptop is very slow. At startup, i hear the win7 start sound after 15 secs i am in desktop, it takes from 5 to 30 seconds for the icons to appear, navigating and responsivnes is slow...
I gave it a scan.. no viruses. Mybe cuz i use a bad antivirus? Windows Security Essentials? I tried disk defrag... I close all background application.. I dont know what to do.
I feel like my old laptop with intel pentinum dual core is faster then this... :(

Run a virus and spyware scan with another program, very often just one product won't fix or find everything. Install and run Malwarebytes (you only need the free version) and also download the Avira Antivir rescue boot disk and run that. Just boot off the disk and run the scan.

Its either a disk problem, or a virus.
Lets assume its the smaller problem, the virus.
You're gonna need to run deeper scans, there could be some kind of malware in your pc.

Try, a scan with a diferent antivirus, lets say AVAST(free ofc)

Then you can use these two

(you can have both of these along with avast, since they are not antivirus but anti-spyware/malware, they have no conflits).

Malwarebytes (free version) : is the king of finding any malware, whatever it finds delete it.

Spybot: Another good software, it runs idle in the background like an antivirus, but you can still scan with it.

Try them out, and report back.
Best of luck

**If someone that knows of potential disk problem-fixing can help, than good luck**

MSE is pretty good for a free antivirus and it doesn't slow down your computer like some of the others that you pay for (Looking at you McAfee)

What else do you have running in the background? Open task manager and see what's using your system resources.

A few things,
Unistal any useless taskbars from your web browser.
Delete any files you dont use anymore.
Unistal any software or anything that you do not use or seems suspicious.
The virus were the major problem, and it seems they are fixed.

Keep a good antivirus like Avast, and scan with MB maybe once a month or every two weeks, and you should not get any big virus often.
