you would use the 3.5mm headphone jack like everyone else does on portable devices i assume........

2.1 is out of your budget? the z313 is $35usd with free shipping on amazon.

2.0 like the z130 is $22 with free shipping.

not a huge price increase and if you like bass at all its an improvement. the z130 2.0 speakers arent bad. i've used them. the z313 with subwoofer is better though and well worth the minor price increase.

5.1 is not out of your reach. the z506 is only $65 free shipping. about 3x the price of the stereo set.

i'm recommending some very budget concious speakers here...
why usb?

does your system not have a 3.5mm headphone output plug?

personally i'd recomend a 2.1 system since the sub is going to help out for the low end quite a bit. something like the z313 is only about $10 more and includes a subwoofer.

if you want 2.0 and are fine with lacking bass then something like the z130 isnt terrible either.

both have 3.5mm connectors not usb. not sure why you are using usb as both laptops and desktops have headphone jacks.

how many watts you need is relative. as far as actually hearing the movies at reasonable volumes then the 5-10w of typical pc speakers is fine. if you want large booms from the sub and lots of thunderous bass then you are going to need a much more powerful system. or at least a subwoofer.

well they are more of usb now then 3.5mm. but if 3.5mm is better than usb i will get that one. no issue but how can i use 3.5mm with ipad??? that i would like to know.

2.1 and advance are out of my budget. but i will check if i can get find a one within my limits as i have to buy whole new pc without monitor, new laptop too.
i would prefer to have 7.0 but again out of range. and the room for my pc is small room.

i will post if i find any 2.1 in my range n available here.
