quick google said it was soldered, just watched a tear down and the cpu was soldered. pretty sure its soldered.

feel free to google it yourself, what you want to know is whether or not the cpu is soldered to the motherboard.

I've the same question. I have a1-571g and the i5 3230m is NOT soldered to the motherboard. It has a locking socket that you can unlock and take the cpu out with no problem. So can I upgrade to a i7? If so which model? Thank you

what socket, exactly? I think i7s use g2 or g3 depending on model. First, Check about the socket, then. check about heat production, the third thing you're going to check is the space inside your laptop/notebook which I think it's pretty much standard and also if your motherboard supports it. After the research you'll need to buy the mobile CPU, someone may help you getting one through a reliable website as it's not very easy to find mobile components. Does anyone know about a good website for buying mobile CPUs and GPUs?

I don't know why Nvidia, Intel and AMD don't sell mobile components as they do with desktop components :c
