Possible motherboard problems in my laptop

My laptop has been acting up lately. When i try to logon it will freeze up, go black, or the keyboard doesnt work. I heard that this could be a motherboard problem. How can i figure out what the problem is?

It could be a virus. Do you run regular scans for malware and virus protection?

I do. I have ESET NOD32 and i run them monthly at least. Typically every week
