Okay so I'm looking to buy a 1080p projector for my 100'' screen and I have a 1200 budget. The problem is I wanna run audio and video from my computer which is about 50 feet away. I have an available dual link dvi port on my computer and I want to also get 5.1 surround on the same source. I was thinking about getting a 50 foot dvi cable (which has to be decent) and then using an audio out on the projector to run to the stereo receiver. I know my video card can handle it because I've run 2 1080p sources off of it and the available port is a dvi dual link. I am yet to buy the projector or the stereo receiver but the 5.1 speakers are already in place. It may be worth noting that the computer is on the 2nd floor and the projector will be in the basement ( I have a buddy who is an electrician) So basically I am open to suggestions on
1. What projector should I get?
2. How the hell do I hook it up?

Solution
Personally, I'd say build a PC for your basement and forget wiring the basement to the 2nd floor PC. However, if that's not an option, then I'd probably recommend something like the Ceton Echo Extender (assuming you're running Windows 7 Home Media Center).

This will allow you to control your 2nd floor PC from the basement having only run a network cable between the two levels. You can then connect as follows:

Ceton Echo --> HDMI - 5.1 Surround System --> HDMI --> Projector.
