I'm looking for a nice gaming laptop. I'm not that hardcore gamer who'll stick his eyes all the day on games. I just play some 2 hours a day. Which laptop should I get among these 2? I need one which could play almost all the latest games on med-high settings. I will play games like BF4,ac4,watch dogs, far cry 3,etc.

Dell inspiron 15r - dual core i7 4500u(1.8ghz-3.0),8gb ram,radeon hd 8850m 2gb gddr5, 1366x768pixels

Hp envy 15 - quad core i7 4700mq(2.4ghz-3.4ghz),8gb ram, nvidia gt 740m 2gb ddr3 , 1366x768pixels

Please help me make the right decision. I'll appreciate your help.

I am stuck at exactly the same choice. For me, I dont really have an extensive use. I use my computer just for my research and sometimes watching TV shows, so not really concerned about graphics card or GPU.....but i like the look of HP better than that of the Dell machine. However, Envy is $135 dollars more expensive from where I intend to buy it....

DELL priced at $850

HP Envy priced at $985

What do you reckon now?

ENvy has a better CPU but a weaker GPU and vice versa for inspiron 5537..If Envy is priced anywhere near 80k it is a good pick otherwise inspiron is better.

Check out the following site for gt 740 benchmarks

btw where do you live? You can get better deals depending on the place you live.IF USA you can buy lenovo y510p for 800 dollars ,,it has a gr8 cpu with gt750m

Both are priced around same. I know 8850m is a lot better than 740m or even 750m. But I can't really decide which should I get. I visited an hp store and saw hp envy 15 and it was amazing. But I can't say anything about inspiron 15r.

As a rule of thumb HP is worst than dell quality wise.If you are not a hardcore gamer 740m will suffice. But keep in mind graphics demanding games wont run at a playable fps like Hitman Absolution and Metro Last Night

I have seen some videos on YouTube for gt 740m. I've seen people playing hitman absolution, crysis 3 and even Battlefield 4 on medium-high settings smoothly.

I agree with you. I personally like the looks of hp envy 15. But I doubt HP's build quality as compared to Dell. I saw some videos on YouTube, some people complain that its body feels like aluminum when you touch it but when you knock it it sounds like plastic. Cheap plastic.

That's true actually. I have held an HP ProBook for last 2 years...whole numpad and few other keys, especially the Alt key, stopped working in the first few months, then one day the LCD stopped functioning out of nowhere, and now I have bad sectors in my hard which has compelled me to get rid of it.

But still the look of Envy series mesmerizes me.... :(

Is this Rs. 80,500 price in Pakistan? Cuz the link I mentioned was that of a beloved patriot website. I am located in Australia but going to Pak at the end of this month so I can buy it from either country, wherever I get it cheaper.
