My laptop only has usb and hdmi on it. When a projector has vga, usb, hdmi and rca how do I hook it up? I bought a cable with hdmi on one end and both vga and rca on the other. I don't know if just the vga or rca are used one at a time or if you connect both or if that won't work at all. I tried connecting both last night and got nothing. Do I need just a vga to hdmi convertor instead?

I guess I need to know if the vga port on the projector is the only port that can be used (they usually are the only one that says computer under them)

I tried that before and it didn't work, thats why I think the vga port has to be used for a computer.

Did you make sure on the projector you were telling it to receive input from the HDMI source? The auto source detect on most projectors can be very hit and miss, so you need to make sure you are telling the projector where to look for the source signal from as well as make sure you are using the correct fn+command (usually f7) on our laptop to initiate the signal from your laptop to the projector.
