How to set up Tata Sky (STB) to send audio through Home Theatre speakers?

I have a Sony Bravia KLV-40EX43B LCD and a Sony DAV-DZ340K DVD Home Theatre. I also use a Tata Sky HD set top box for TV. The devices are connected in the following manner:

Tata Sky HD to TV -> HDMI (normal cable) (HDMI Port 2 in TV)
Home theatre to TV -> HDMI (High Speed) (HDMI/MHL Port 1 in TV)

The TV has only two HDMI ports.

The problem is this: When I watch a movie or listen to a song through the Home Theatre system, the audio comes through the 5.1 speakers absolutely fine. (The speakers are connected to the DVD player) But how do I make the Tata Sky audio also to come through them? (Currently they are coming out through the TV speakers)

There's an option for which allows me to select TV speakers or Audio System in the TV and when I select Audio System, the HT system wakes up automatically (Bravia Sync), and input mode changes to TV in the HT system, but no sound comes. I know ARC is needed for audio to be fed back through HDMI. I checked the options in the HT system. There was a setting which said ARC (Audio Return Channel) and the options where only Auto or OFF. I left it at Auto. But still no audio.

Any suggestions guys?

Get a TOS link cable and connect it from the TV optical out to the HT optical in......
It'll work perfectly fine. Or if the tele doesn't have an optical out then connect the Tata Sky HD Optical out to the HT Optical in.

Thanks for your reply. But let me clarify here. The Sony DAV-DZ340K DVD Home Theatre doesn't have a optical input. It supports ARC. But I do not know if my LCD supports it too. Can you please check that out? I cannot find the information anywhere online.

I think it was from Singapore/Malaysia. It might be Dubai. I've no idea 'cause it was my dad's gift. (But definitely not India) The HT system doesn't have optical in. I've verified with the manual. (The 940K and 640K models have it. The 340K doesn't.) Now if only the TV supported ARC, it would be a lot simpler. But I do not know, if it supports or not. (Please note, the TV is KLV-40EX43B and not KDL-40EX43B)

Nope went through the whole manual.... doesn't mention ARC anywhere....
But, I'd like you to try interchanging the two HDMI inputs and see...Just interchange them from the TV side, meaning plug cable HDMI 1 into HDMI2 and HDMI2 Cable into HDMI1 Port.

Cos it says it'll take Audio only from HDMI1 in HDMI1 input mode.

Nope! It didn't work. I confirmed with the Sony dealer here and they mentioned that KLV-40EX43B doesn't have ARC. So I'm left with a HT system without Optical input but only ARC and a LCD with an Optical output but no ARC. Sigh!

So I finally bought a good old analogue LR audio cable and hooked it up. I won't get 5.1 audio, but atleast I get stereo.

Just for a little more detail if you have the dough you can go for a Bose Solo system, I bought mine for 28K recently but it's well worth the money.... It's not a 5.1 'cos I already have a HT-DDW5500 6.2 attached to my Sony BDP... the problem was the TV... somehow serials and kiddy stuff just doesn't sound right on a 5.1..... too rich for such crappy programs actually.... so I finally managed to save up and picked the Bose up..... lovely piece of equipment, sleek deep bass clear dialogues and loud enough without being a pain.... the piece easy connects to the TV's Optical out.... so if I happen to plug my USB stick in for a quick movie I still manage to get great sound without having to plug the USb into the BDP then having the HT on (lotsa power) .... check it out.
The problem with a lot of LCDs is the Audio..... everyone keeps harping on the picture quality but what no one seems to realize when they buy a LCD is that the audio is so crazy that normally you'd have to crank up the volume to 25 or 30 to hear the dialogues clearly..... and personally I hate living in noisy environments..... so the need.....of something better with less of technical need do everytime...
