In the battery options running a Dell xps 15 L502x there is Enable Dell extended battery life and when I tick it nothing happens and when i go back to the options its still unticked, and to make it worst there is no settings there.

Before i did a factory format it was there and it would automatically put laptop in power save mode and in settings allowed me to turn off optical drive and a few other bits and bobs. Where has the settings gone now?

I've also noticed a weird bug I'm logged in as Administrator however when I do things on windows its always asking me stuff like providing administrator permissions to move things or do things and its giving me a button with a shield on that says continue and then it continues fine, is that a connection to the dell extended battery life issue?

right click battery meter then click on dell battery meter its the options in there. Id rather not talk to dell already did before they tried to sell me warranty at 90 quid a year then they emailed me back saying 9 months for 135quid I was so mad at them for lying.

I'm willing to bet Toms hardware is better at this than Dell are.

Don't know what I did but rebooting system fixed Administrator issue and in battery power management the settings appeared. I believe setting a password as my admin account fixed the issue after a reboot fixed it all lol guess I answered my own question

To set the password type user account in Start menu search programs and files go into user accounts and set create or add a password, then reboot system remember that password write it down keep it in safe place in case you forget. Then after reboot fixed my issue. I take it administrator account requires a password to be able to modify things like an admin, and that battery management settings is only for administrators is my guess.
