My laptop is pretty much fried by some virus that has showed up. I am on it right now, but who knows when it will suddenly freeze and I'll have to force shut down. At any point in time, everything I do could suddenly lock up. If my mouse continues to move, there's a chance it will resume working, but if the mouse freezes, I have to force shut down by holding power, losing any and all work I had open when it froze. It seems to happen randomly, and without a certain program triggering it, but it especially happens when resuming from "Sleep" mode. I've tried the "hold zero and press power" thing to reset to factory (as I already have backed up personal files to a flash drive) but I never get the beeping which leads to what everyone is talking about. I'm wondering if there's some other method?

Your model did definitely come with a recovery partition from the factory. However, if the hard drive is failing, it is quite possible that it will be inaccessible.
First, lets try to rule out these hardware issues. I'm hoping that you have access to another computer to download a Hirens Boot CD. It's almost a 600 MB file that you can use to create a boot CD that will allow you to check your Hard Drive and RAM (and tons of other things too). I don't leave home without it

From what your describing, the problem could very well be a hardware issue. A bad stick of ram, or a failing HDD could cause these same issues.

Hi, thanks for answering me. I want to say right now that if you have any advice how to save my computer should mine not come with a partition, that would be greatly appreciated, and I have tons of info about what has been going on that I could provide if it helps at all. But my laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L675D-S7106.

The download contains an .ISO (Disc Image) file that can be easily burnt to CD by right clicking and choosing Burn Disc Image. The .zip also contains BurnCDCC.exe that will allow you to burn to disc.
Once burnt, boot to the disc and choose Mini Windows XP. Choose HBCDMenu. Click Programs -> Hard Disk/Storage -> Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics.
Highlight your Hard Drive, right click on it & click Run Diagnostics. Select EXTENDED TEST & Start. The test could take 10 seconds, or up to 2 hours.
If you get a red X, I was right, & you'll have to replace the HDD. Either way, post your results and we'll go from there.
