Hi

I have hp workstation 8570w that came with nvidia quadro k1000m... this model also came with quadro k2000m... and the 17" version of this machine also came with k3000m....

So my question is that, is it possible to replace my k1000m with k2000m or even with k3000m.?

The Quadro K1000m should be upgradable since it is a MXM format graphics card. I can only imagine it would not be upgradable only if it is soldered into the MXM slot.

Not sure if a K3000m will work because it was never an option for the HP workstation.

Hi,

I'm latching onto this thread as I have a question about these graphic cards and this laptop. I'm looking at getting the same laptop and I was wondering why you want to upgrade. I suspect that the K1000m is not powerful for your needs but was hoping you could share your experience about it.

Also, what applications are you running ? I'll be doing some CAD and FEA/CAE so I need a good graphics card. The usual recommendation is to go for the best possible (in this case the K3000m) but that only comes in the 17" laptop which is huge. As I need to take my laptop around me with a lot, I have a preference for the smaller 15.6", as long as the graphics card (K1000m or K2000m) is powerful enough.

Thanks for any insights or experience you can share
