Ok guys I hope this has not been asked but I been looking for help for 4 mths now and desperately need someone to take the time to give me a hand with my Alienware M17x r2 .
I'll try to explain the best I can the situation .
Ok, I wanted to over lock my dell 4870m crossfire cards to get a little more out of my mx17x r2 . I would over clock my two cards they would always revert back to stock settings . I figured I would flash the vbios on each card with win flash . (Prob a bad idea) after flashing one card it seemed to keep that card clocked at higher speeds even after reboot. I did the same with the other card and rebooted and at that point would not boot ever again . I made a mistake somewhere when flashing the cards obviously . I pulled both 4870m cards out of the alienware mx17 and switched both cards from right to left swapping both cooling units since they are only designed for left and right. I Put it back together and it's the same, lights on top left scroll and caps blinking with black screen . I hear the hd start up, sounds like it always did . I checked all wires several times that go to screen . I'm stuck and need help please. There is no warranty on this laptop ... A few questions I have....
1) can I send these cards anywhere to be re flashed ?
2) If I buy a new card can I install just one , and will it work with just one until I buy another. Then can I just plug ribbon in to connect crossfire.
3) will a 5870m plug and play, meaning just install one 5870 and it will work.
