Alright, tom's has never let me down before. Help me out with this one guys. The PlayStation 4 comes out in a months time. I'm using my 23inch acer 1080p monitor to game with it. My problem came into place when I found out the PS4 would be HDMI only. I used to be able to extract audio from my Xbox and PS3 buy plugging in av cables alongside the HDMI and converting av into 3.5mm, thus plugging my pc speakers into the console.

I've found a way to extract audio from the PS4 by using this
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ECTHIKK/ref=gno_cart_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1BREQ8I6OHSBG

Not too expensive and wouldn't be too much of a hassle. I don't mind to buy this product at all, but I'm curious if you guys have any cheaper/better options.

Extra info, my monitor does not have a 3.5mm jack and my speakers do not have an S/PDIF port.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have this exact same setup and the exact same concern once I found out about the audio outputs on the PS4.

It's annoying me, but I guess decisions were made for reasons on the design.

I decided that I may get this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digital-Optical-Coaxial-Toslink-Converter/dp/B0074JZ8ZW as it's a bit cheaper than stripping the audio from the HDMI output.

Irritatingly, both solutions involve a power plug which means a bigger plugbank and thus more expense, thanks sony! The only other option is to use the controller's 3.5mm jack, but I think that only outputs chat or something.

Anyway, hope this helps you out a bit!
