Hey all,

I have many programs installed on my SSD in my tower, but am now running windoows 8.1 off of a flash drive. These programs will not open now (since the ssd is the C: drive on windows 7 and the G: drive on win8). Is there any way I can run these programs while in windows 8?

Thanks :)

Wasnt sure if there was a workaround to this since they are windows apps, just not in the OS directory (the active one anyways). Thanks for your info.

Not really. Almost every app on any operating systems is not portable. That's the way most apps are written. The apps need to interact with the OS. Apps written for Windows 7 can be foreign language on Windows 8. Or there will be dependency issues that prevent it from running. It would be a giant pain in the ass to make all apps backwards compatible. That is bloatware galore and the operating system will be bogged down by this. As we move forward, technology is improving and looking backwards won't be good marketing-wise or practical-wise.

I can see that. Right now my workaround is to TeamViewer into my old laptop and run programs like Office through the remote desktop (keeps the giant files off of my flash drive).
