I replaced the LED screen on a Gateway laptop (newer model) and after getting it all back together, I press power the laptop HDD, Fan, LED indicator lights, AND the LED screen turns on but there is no post to BIOS. I see activity in the HDD indicator light, but the screen just stays illuminated with nothing on it (just blank, NOT black) I have tried re-seating the LED cable...pulled memory, reinstalled memory, pulled battery and drained any residual energy and re-installed battery but nothing seems to get this to boot. External display shows the same. HELP please. Thanks in advacne

Solution
Then you have a faulty ribbon cable from both the old and new screen. It's probably something around or in the connector for the screen on the motherboard. Maybe a bad connection inside the connector.

Could this be a result of a faulty MB? Or is this video (cable) issue?

UPDATE: There is also a single beep when plugging and un-plugging the power supply. I am sure this may aide in a diagnosis.

Jerotech--The unit worked fine when connected to external display, the issue came about after swapping a broken LED with a new one. It really has me boggled right now. Open and closing the lid results in screen turning on and off as it should, but again NOTHING but blank screen. (Not black). Control+alt+delete restarts the laptop as it should.

It is a gateway nv57h43u

UPDATE: Pulled laptop apart and disconnected the ribbon cable leading to LCD, plugged into VGA port and viola...I have video! Now is this indicative of a faulty ribbon cable? It is the only thing that makes sense here. It sits in parts on my bench, and would like a second opinion as to the problem causing this.
