I have a Toshiba Satellite L675D S7016 laptop and the screen stopped turning on.

I shut the laptop lid putting it into hibernation as I usually do, then upon reopening at a later time, the screen wouldn't show up. After turning it off and back on, it still wouldn't turn on.

Things I have tried:
--Removing power source and battery and holding the power button for 30-120 seconds.
--Manipulating the 2 RAM sticks into different slots.
--Attempted to see if the screen was on by shining a flashlight on the screen while turned on (couldn't see anything).
--Attempted to cycle to the proper video source using Fn-F5 (no luck with the laptop screen or an external one).
--Pressed F2 repeatedly on load, no luck.
--Tilting the screen back and forth looking for flashing, none.

I even pulled the hard drive out and put it back in, no source suggested it, but it was easy enough and I just tried.

There are 6 lights on the front, the battery comes on when the battery is in, the power source one comes on when plugged in, and the power on light comes when it's turned on. The ones that don't come on are the internet connection light, the screen light, and one light that I'm not familiar with (looks like a cylinder).

I've probably tried other things or forgot to mention some stuff, so ask away please.

I tried plugging it into my TV with a VGA cable with no luck in the display. I will say I may not be doing it right, but I thought I did.

1 - It does shut down in that it turns off after holding the power button.

2 - Just like #1.

3 - Timed it: roughly 4-5 seconds.

Note that this is while holding the button. I don't think pressing it alone does anything.

Well that seems to be as far as I can help with sorry. I do little work on laptops as we have warranties for all of them.

You might need to take it in to get checked, some places might do a free quote. I am guessing they will says it needs a new mobo.

You pretty much covered everything in the first post that I would run through.

Kinda need that bios appearing to do anything more.

Just one last thing, did you try with the battery out and the power plugged in? Give it a minute from when you take the battery out before you put the power in.

I didn't get a warranty for it, but I believe the warranty that was offered would've been expired by now anyway (2 years?).

Yeah, I was afraid of that being the problem. I had the same suspicion, but just wanted to see what someone else had to say.

Yeah, unfortunately the bios in not accessible. I will attempt to connect it a different external monitor and will note it here if it's comes up.

I did try that, but I'll try again with the battery out for a bit longer.

Removed the power cord.
Removed anything connected to the machine.
Removed bottom cover and removed the battery.
Press and hold the small button next to the small battery for 10-15 seconds to reset CMOS. (You can also pop out the small battery and replace it after a few seconds, but I recommend using the button)
Plug back in and secure the battery and replace the bottom cover.
Plug back in only the power cord and boot the machine.

This may not work for everyone but it worked for my case. I hope this helps.

I had this problem twice since last night. I received advice from a laptop place. While you're at home you can completely remove the battery and run it from the power source. He said leaving a fully charged battery constantly in can cause problems. I literally am using my laptop at this moment without the battery, just plugged in to the wall. You may also need a new battery.

I have the same issue here, but mine goes like this.

I've been searching around the internet and i think this post is pretty similar with my case as i tried many solutions shared on the net but it's still nothing.

things i've tried:
-Removing power source and battery and holding the power button for 30-120 seconds.
-Attempted to see if the screen was on by shining a flashlight on the screen while turned on (couldn't see anything, it's all black, and it's not light up at all).

But,
i did try connect my laptop to a monitor with HDMI cable and yes the login page appears. i can log in to my desktop with no issue.

1 important thing to mention is that, i did try to press Fn+F5 on and off to see if there's any reaction. i can actually see the screen flickering in very very dim light and i can see my screen a little bit, just very little. so i did keep pressing fn+F5 on and off quickly to see if it's the monitor problem. but from what i see if it's the monitor screen problem, it wouldn't have flicker with images when i keep holding Fn and pressing F5. I brought the laptop to the shop and tried out with new laptop screens, no luck for that too. the technician cannot identify the issue too.

so i was thinking if it's the wires/cable inside are broken or disconnected to the screen? or anyone of you have the same issue also? Your help is very much appreciated!

After trying the "60 second" for three time.. I already giving up as it still give me black screen. On last attempt, without no battery and no cable, i press the power button like I am powering up as usual. The laptop light up a bit. Then I put the cable on, and taadaa... it powering up nicely. Thanks you all.

for some reason, pressing the POWER button a couple of times AFTER holding it for 60 seconds SOLVED the problem.
