My HDD makes a constant static noise that sounds like this http

The noise is very soft. It sort of sounds like if I had put a CD in the laptop and the computer was reading it. It is a strange scratchy sound. I just bought this laptop and I hope that the noise is normal but if its a defect, I'll simply return it.
