how do i Disconnect and reconnect the internal hard drive on my hp notebook?
These errors can occur if the computer has been jarred and the connections to the drive are loose. To determine if this has occurred and to correct this issue, do the following:
Press and hold the power switch for 5 - 15 seconds to turn off the computer.
Disconnect and reconnect the internal hard drive. Details on how to complete this procedure can be found in the Manuals available for your computer model.
Once the hard disk has been reconnected and the computer is completely re-assembled, attempt to start the computer normally.
I dont have the manual , my son-inlaw has thrown all the away whenit was bought. :-|

Well it'd be good to have a model name of the laptop, but chances are it'll be very similar to most every laptop hard drive disk's (HDD a.k.a. Hard Drive) placement. Shutdown your laptop, flip it upside down, take out the battery (taking out the battery's not completely necessary but I do so for safety precautions) and then look for a panel.

The panel is pretty easy to spot, and it'll usually (though not always) have the letters HDD written on it. Then just get a small phillips head screwdriver, pop out the screw locking the panel shut, and pry the panel open. You'll see an HDD inside.

Here's what an HDD looks like. It may not look exactly the same, but the shape will be the same. It's pretty easy to spot as well...

To disconnect it, there should be a plug of some sort (which we refer to as a SATA cable) connected to it. Just pop out the HDD and then pull the SATA cable out. Just don't drop the hard drive. To put it back just plug it back in and go in reverse.

However, out of curiosity, what exactly are you doing this for? I or someone else may be able to help with that specific problem more than whatever manual or tech support you're reading/talking to.

I did all of this, and my Dell 5000 series lap top started up just fine and all seemed well. Now, however, I cannot stay connected to the internet or wifi. Ran diagnostics, etc. (I pretty much figure everything out on my own) but this one is stumping me. Ive done all the suggested troubleshooting like reset router, change power setting, reset adapter, etc. It sees my network, sometimes connects, but wont stay connected longer than a couple minutes. Ive been doing this on my own for 3 days, lol. Now I'm asking for help.
