I am looking to get a new gaming headset, i have heard very mixed reviews on a lot of different headsets. For example the Razer Tiamats some say the audio is horrible and others say it is fine. I have some kind of 7.1 system on my motherboard but dont know if i need a sound card.

Solution
Firstly, all mobo's have a sound card built in.

Secondly, when it comes to headsets. Turtle beach, Logitech and Plantronics are usaully a good choice. Razer are alright but I would only buy keyboards and Mouses from them...

Please don't fall for the false advertising with all the so called 'superior' gaming headsets. Gaming headsets are all just a gimmick to make you spend huge amounts for a mediocre result. Just get a Sennheiser headset; they do have ones with a mic, i can guarantee you won't be disappointed.
