Hi Team,

I am wanting to get the communities experience and knowledge around gaming laptops to see what everyone has used or recommends in terms of a gaming experience/multi-media laptop.

So far I've looked at models like Lenovo Y510P, MSI Models, some Asus models. My goal is to get something more portable like 14 -15.6 inches in screen size preferably matte finish. My inquiries show many laptops are cookie cutter such as :

I-7 4000 series proc
8GB Ram
750 - 1TB hardrive
765M-770M graphics ect.....

Games I will be playing are mostly Shooters like Battlefield 3, Call of Duty, and MMO's like Guild Wars 2. Ultimately I just want something that will be portable but won't dog on the FPS.

Thanks Community!

Keep in mind:
1 - almost all laptops can't upgrade CPU and GPU. From manufacturers' website you can configure it but cannot upgrade after purchase.
2. Laptop CPU and GPU do not have the same performance compared to desktop version. Mobile processors run at lower voltage to avoid excess heat.

I have an i7 and AMD 6990m laptop. I play Diablo 3 and Skyrim on high resolution. Runs fine BUT laptop gets really hot and fan makes loud noise because of restricted cooling.

I agree with your statement. I already have the following as a desktop:

I7-3770K
16GB Corsair Vengence 1600Mhz
500GB Samsung PRO SSD
1TB WD Black Label
3GB Sapphire 7970 GHZ Edition Graphics

The laptop will just be for casual gaming on decent settings and multimedia ect
