Hi all,

I'm currently looking for a new laptop to play games on (the most demanding game being Guild Wars 2). I am currently choosing between the above laptops:

The Asus has an Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor and a NVIDIA GTX670MX 3GB GPU but seems like it has an overall better build quality at $950.

I feel like the Lenovo has less of a stellar build quality but has a Core i7-4700MQ CPU and Nvidia 750m SLI dual graphics cards at $1100.

I'm not worried about screen size, but I like to play games at native resolutions and at the highest settings possible. Which of these is a better value? And any other better suggestions for this price range would be great!

I hear that Asus's build quality is very above average where-as Lenovo's is very good but not quite there. Also, does the CPU and GPU warrant the extra $150? Is it worth it?

Both are good, but I have been seeing more problems with ASUS of late, and that one is refurb. It either had some cosmetic damage, or had a problem that had to be fixed. It there was nothing else comparable, I would probably buy it, but if there was, I would probably go with that one, but that is me. Both have good specs. If you want to save some then, go with the ASUS.

Hi, in the past I had owned a Y500 for 3 months, and Y560p for 2 years. Out of the 6 laptops I owned from HP, Dell, ACER, Toshiba, and Lenovo, the Y500 had the worst build quality.

Almost every time I open the chassis for upgrading RAM or SSD, one screw will give me problem. Either the screw wont go back in, or the thread holes just comes right off! not to mention the touch pad on Y500 was impossible to use effectively.. (you can google "problem with y500")

The y500 had quality parts like most of the other lenovos for the price you pay.. but I would avoid Lenovo in general if you are an unlucky buyer like me that are "more" likely to suffer from their bad quality control.

I'm not real happy with the positioning of the touch pad, but I usualy use a Mouse with my laptop anyway, unless I am nowhere that I can use it. I have a friend who has the W520 and he really likes it and he is particular about his laptops and the quality. As for the thread holes getting stripped out, that can be from cross threading the screws. or just trying to over tighten them. Neither one a fault of Lenovo. I was referring mostly to the Specs anyway, which are good.
