Ok,so first off,thanks for reading this thread,i appreciate it. I had to create an account to get information from whoever can help..alright,down to the point. I discovered the power of receivers a bit late in life. I originally wanted a pc sound card Sound Blaster ZXR,which i''m considering btw. Now my question is this,the Pioneer VSX 1023k has gauge inputs for speakers,so i was wondering,can i cheap out and use my Logitech Z906 and plus that in the gauge ports on the back of the receiver?? I am actually planning on getting the receiver for maybe black friday if the price is right. I also heard that specific receiver is more powerful than the soundcard. Can someone please help me out here? I will gladly appreciate it.... oh and recommendations are also welcomed.

no thanks Pat,i want something with 4k incorporated to semi future proof. but i found out the gauge on my z906 wont fit on the back of the receiver! what can i do?

you would likely have to trim down the end of the wire so that it will fit, or buy something new, which would be a little silly if you already have what you need

Your logitech speaker system has its own amplifiers built in (it is designed to connect to a sound card not a receiver). I could not find the owners manual but usually the amps for the system are in the sub so you could use the satellites with the receiver and add a powered subwoofer.
Soundcards do not have any power amps built in so have practically no power at all compared to any receiver.
I don't think you will have any problems with the speaker wire that came with the Logitech if used with the Pioneer receiver but you can thin it down if needed.

oh ok,well dang.but i wanna get this clear,are receivers more powerful than a soundcard? for example,such as the soundblaster zxr or ASUS essence stx. is it possible to hook up my pc to the receiver with soundcard onboard and get super quality? lol,silly question i know.

Receivers are much much much more powerful than any sound card. Sound cards do not have power amplifiers at all. You can certainly connect the pc to a receiver. If the sound card has digital audio out (usually optical) than use that. If not then you can use the analog outputs (3 for 5.1, 4 for 7.1) if the receiver has direct 5.1 or 7.1 analog inputs. Go for the digital connection if you can. Yes the quality will be better.
so what you are telling me is that a receiver is more powerful than a soundcard. BUT if i do get a soundcard,plus a receiver,to hook it through digital out. I am planning on getting a really good receiver for black friday.what receiver woukd you recommend? i would like a future proof kind of receiver,such with 4k enabled and that good stuff but willin to waste 500 max...i know audiophile receivers are more than 1k. i just really wana settle this before i make a regretful purchase. btw,if i dont get a soundcard,the receiver would act as one because it has all the fundamentals,correct?
