Help setting up external disk drive

I have a Lenovo Ideapad (U410) and it doesn't have a disk drive for dvds and games. So i got the Super Slim External USB Portable 24x CD-ROM Drive (wrote whole name for reference) and it comes in the mail and i hook it up to my laptop and insert the disk they give you to configure it and the instructions are for windows 95 and xp. now with research i discovered that it will work for windows 8 but i could not find any instructions. If any of you can help me find or even just tell me how to install it that would be most help full.

Drive is plug-n-play, so Windows will detect it as new hardware, should load a standard driver, gives it a drive letter and your ready to go.

That's what i thought but when i put in any disk it spins then stops, and it does that a couple times before it just stops.

Anything in device manager, my external that I use for system like your with no opticals, has never needed a driver, even on XP systems.

BIOS have option for legacy USB support ?
