honestly i'd suggest spending a bit more on your rack as you want something rather sturdy. the $20-40 racks are built very cheaply.

you could probably get away with one if you used the flat wall mount style but if you want articulating or an arm style then you definitely want to expand your budget by quite a bit to get something decent.

i paid retail price for mine... but i got such a good deal on the tv that i couldnt complain. i bought a $2000 tv for $1900 but with a $160 wall mount and an extended 5 year service plan. i probably could have paid half online.. oh well. it is one of the hammered finish flat wall mounts that is very heavily built (i could hang off it) and i wouldnt use anything but for my own televisions.

your choice.

I was in you situation not to long ago. I wanted to mount my 46' sony above the fireplace (previous owners had prewired for tv) but, had heard all the usual problems with mounting a tv that high. I did some research on amazon / google and stumbled upon the down and out mount by dynamic mounting ( www.dynamicmounting.com) they have multiple mount types for whatever your needs. The model I purchased takes my tv from above the mantel (about 7 feet from the floor) out and over an 11' mantel and stops at the perfect viewing angle from the couch/loveseat/chairs. It not only converted my family room from a social gathering place outside the kitchen I can finally watch the games without killing my neck looking up from the couch. As far as pricing goes they start at around $499 which sounds expensive but, the mounts are all metal, sturdy, and counterbalanced so the y can hold up to 120 lbs. BTW they offer up to $100 rebates for simply posting reviews of your experiences good or bad (They offer a truly excellent product so I don't think there are many bad experiences out there). So bottom line check out the down and out mount by www.dynamicmounting.com, you will not be disappointed.

The honest truth about the TV mounts is that world 98% Wall mounts are manufactured in China by a limited 10-15 manufacturers with annual turnover over $100+mil each. These mounts are sold to customers across the world who marked it in their own brand name with haft margins of over 500%-1000% ( shocked - you should be). When you see any wall mount from any brand or company , just check if it is made in China or not to prove me right. So what exactly happen in the big bla-bla about wall mount quality and safety. NOTHING. Because each wall mount is tested and manufactured the same way for every customer keeping in mind the quality and durability. Televisions are getting lighter and lighter now a day resulting these mounts to me much more cheaper to manufacture. A typical fixed wall mount actual cost is not more than $2-$3 ( you can check that on alibaba and 100 other sites). So why these wall mount sold for over 10 to 20 times there value in your local market by the retailers ( online or offline)? The answer is greed. These company make huge margins to exploit the situation that every one follow them.

I suggest look for suppliers with price ranging from $10 or less for a wall mount as it doesn't matter if you buy a one with over 50-60 dollar or the one under 10 dollar. Both are as good and durable as each other. Except you pay a huge premium for a brand name which is recognized in the market than a unknown one. I found one company selling Tv mounts at a very attractive prices. Infact i found their tv mounts supplied with some of the leading tv brands like samsung etc. I googled and found their site , check if it may be helpful for you http://inquim.com/?page_id=9 .
