Live Update is good for keeping chipset drivers and utilities current, BUT NEVER USE LIVE UPDATE TO UPDATE YOUR BIOS! Many ppl have bricked their MB by using LU to update the BIOS! Check your BIOS and see if it has the "M-Flash" capability. I have used M-Flash now several times on the rig in my sig and it works every time.

M-Flash is an option in the BIOS. First, download and extract the BiOS update and load it on a USB flash drive. Insert the flash drive into a USB 2.0 PORT. Start the computer and enter the BIOS. You select M-Flash in the BIOS with your mouse and it asks your for the location of your BIOS update file. Point it to the USB flash drive and M-Flash will start.

After the flash is complete, unplug the computer and close the jumpers to "Clear the CMOS". When this is complete, restart the computer, enter the BIOS and "Load Optimized Defaults" for your board. Press F1 to find which key to press for Optimized Defaults. Next, press F10 to save changes and exit. Reboot the computer and enter the BIOS to make any necessary changes, such as disabling the serial and parallel ports. When done, press F10 to save changes and exit to Windows.

Good luck!

If you do not clear the CMOS, you run the risk of some stray setting interfering with the proper operation of your computer.

Another option is to remove the "coin battery" from the MB for about 5 minutes. Be sure to keep track of which side goes up! Then re-install the battery.

If you are updating the BIOS you should ALWAYS clear the CMOS after the update, regardless of how old the computer is.

Thanks for the "Best Answer".
