Hey all,

My grandma recently called me and asked if I could find her something that would help her to hear her TV better. Her TV in inside an entertainment unit and the sound doesn't amplify out of the enclosure very well. I immediately thought sound bar would be a good solution, however I didn't realize how pricey they can be. She really doesn't need anything fancy, she just wants to be able to hear her TV again. Is there any device I can set up for her that will amplify her TV sound without breaking the bank? I told her it would probably be ~$50 and most of the sound bars I have seen have significantly higher prices. She also wants actual speakers - not wireless headphones.

Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

You could connect a 2.1 channel pc type speaker system to the TV. You have to be sure that it has the correct input for that TV (optical digital is most common). You can also place the speakers closer to her so that it won't need to play as loud for her to understand the dialogue.
The Pioneer speakers would require an additional amplifier to work (unless the TV is old enough that it has speaker terminals on it).
