no speaker icon

HI,I just did M/S update now i have sound coming out of speakers.
can not connect to add hardwae to see if the mute button has been activated,no spearker icon in lower task bar,thanks

Open Control Panel, then open "Sounds and Audio Devices". The first tab is "Volume" and has a checkbox to display an icon in the Taskbar. Check the box and select "OK".

Try rebooting and see if that will re-install your sound device. If not, try "Add New Hardware" Wizard in Control Panel.

HI,I just went into add hardware and this i have on screen.
No M/S kernel,no sigma tel HD,NOnvidia HD,NOadapter i BELIEVE THIS MY VIDEO PLAYER.
Anything that has to do with sound totally gone,even went into M/S and they were of no help and this all started when did M/S updates
and this not the first time PC went to hell in a hand basket because of M/S updates.
I do not any disks for this PC,but usually these problems are really simple and stupid mistakes you just have to know where to go to.
Also used restore and went back 2 weeks and speaker icon still did not show up,thanks

Well would you believe i have now,went into M/S fix-it program and got sound back,see i told it is usually something simple and stupid,like looking for white Easter eggs in a snow storm.

Well i do no know if there was anything then the M/S fix-it program,also there was a diagnostic program that you to find hidden problems
then you from there to the fix-it program.
