well alienware runs hot so go with a cooling pad. and for asus its the same exact thing just more RAM and 1 TB HDD... so basicly i think go with cheaper one. alienware M17X is the #1 Gaming Laptop on many reviews. so if you want what reviews say go with
alienware. alienware is also a name brand so after your done with it you probs can sell it for almost the same amount. possibly more. i say go with asus though due to the price and due to the HDD. You can do more with the asus.

i prefer alienware but the asus has more RAM and a bigger HDD so it depends. asus has better specs but i dunno about light up keyboard. alienware you can customize it on the websight and make it 10 times better than both

Cooling is about the same, but the Alienware runs a bit louder and has intake vents on the bottom. Opening the AW's case does not void the warranty, but I think that ASUS voids its warranty if you change anything other than a hard drive. The AW has more upgrade options: the ASUS has a soldered CPU and custom-made-to-fit GPU, and accessing the Alienware's cooling system is much easier. The AW has a sturdier chassis too: the lid is much more solid than that of the ASUS and the frame is magnesium alloy, which is typically much stiffer and stronger than ABS plastic, which ASUS uses.

I have a alienware 18 and my friend just got a Asus g750, they have the same processer and the same graphics, sure the Asus has more ram but 8 gbs is plenty, it really just depends on If you want a customizable lighting or style, they will play around they same setitngs but the alienware has a a 1GHz over the asus
