I have been searching, but have been unable to find the answer to a question that has been puzzling me since I got my 1st Windows 8 job--does Adobe Acrobat Reader, NOT require security (patch) updating (because of differences between the Windows 8 operating system and previous editions)?
I was just trying to follow the instructions on the Adobe Security Bulletin (9/10/13): http
/www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb13-22.html ...BUT, I can't find a version number for Reader, anywhere in the (Windows 8) system.
Usually, I just check the United States Computer Emergency Response Team's "current activity" page(s) [http/www.us-cert.gov/], where I found this link: http/www.us-cert.gov/ncas/current-activity/2013/09/10/Security-Updates-Available-Adobe-Flash-Player-Adobe-Reader-and
Maybe there is a way to see a version number, though? Also, I don't even see an "update" button in Reader

If you can't find a version number, is there a way to tell which update has been applied most recently?

I'm thinking Microsoft and Adobe just have not made an official announcement (yet?) that Reader is not in need of "manual" patching, because of Windows 8 redesign.
The only way I see to be sure (at any specific moment in time) that you have the latest version is to uninstall Reader, and download from http/get.adobe.com/reader/ page.
