Lenovo Battery/Power Adapter Issues

I've been having trouble with my computers battery and/or power adapter (I think). Whenever I run video games (or have several streams/tabs open in firefox) with my power adapter plugged in, my computer will abruptly stop charging and my power indicator starts blinking (white), and my battery indicator starts blinking (orange); the power button itself blinks (also white).

To fix this I have to unplug the power adapter (from my computer jack, not the wall) and re-plug it in. This fixes the problem for a few minutes (sometimes several if I'm lucky!). I have tried running my computer solely on the power adapter (unplugged the battery) and after running a game for 5-10 minutes the computer just shuts off completely -- I'm thinking this means the problem has something to do with the power adapter itself? Another tidbit of info is that when I place a normal stand-up fan directly aimed at my heatsink and the adapter part of the power adapter itself this problem occurs much less frequently.

Some more info: I have a Lenovo y570 ideapad with original battery. I have a Kensington 3rd party power adapter I bought at BestBuy (about a year ago, probably) after my original adapter stopped working. Let me know what you think! Thanks :)

Here are some of the temperatures after seeing the problem in-game and immediately alt-tabbing to firefox:
CPU - 66 C
Motherboard - 83 C (drops to 63 C a few seconds after tabbing to firefox)
Graphics Card - 66 C
Hard Drive - 39 C

It seems like the problem has escalated a bit now; as I was tabbing back into the game my computer totally shutdown.

Sorry to clarify the "motherboard" temp: I got these temperatures from running Speccy. The motherboard temp is actually listed as the system temperature.
