Hello, I don't know if this is really the right place to be asking this question, but here it goes.

I have an ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard that I've been running HDMI video out to my TV and TOSLINK audio out to a soundbar. I'm wondering if this setup is able to carry the audio on the HDMI along with the video. It currently doesn't seem to work. I've gone into the bios and ensured the option for "HDMI HD Audio" is enabled.

Thanks.

Solution
do you have a video card in another system or just laying around you could test with?

my cousin was having sound issues as well with the hdmi output on his motherboard. i mentioned about possibly adding a video card and he did so and now his sound is fine. apparently it was an issue with the motherboard he had.

just an idea of course...

Thanks.
I am using the onboard video with the motherboard and not a separate video card. When I unplug the toslink and run only hdmi to the tv, there is no sound. The sound settings don't seem to have an option for the hdmi output, only front and rear speaker outputs from the motherboard and the digital toslink as well.
