Hi all,

Just got a new tv - the Samsung 60in Smart TV. I'm attempting to hook up the audio to get the 5 channel surround sound with my Denon AVR2802. This was working find on my last (older TV) but not so much with this one.

I have it hooked up where I'm getting the outside surround sound channels - but not the center, for some reason. So in most instances, I hear the background noise of the show coming out of the side speakers but the main audio/dialog that people say doesn't come through anything. You see their mouths moving, and hear the ambient noise around them, but not that actual audio for the center channel.

I've included a couple of pictures of the way I have the back of my receiver set up. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this sort of thing.

At this point I'm not sure if this is a setup/settings issue with the receiver, DirecTV box, or the TV itself (though I've tried various setting swaps) or a wiring issue. When I removed the Denon Receiver from the old tv I did so without actually removing any cords or components from the box, then I just added what I needed to it for the new TV... so I don't think I misplaced any wires... I really don't know.

Thanks much in advance.

ok, well since your speakers are connected to your receiver, all audio sources should be routed to appropriate inputs on the receiver, preferably in digital form if possible. likewise, all video sources should be routed to your tv via hdmi cables

simply turn off the tv speaker by selecting external speakers or lowering the volume all the way

you'll then have to select the correct source on the receiver to hear either the gaming system or SAT TV or whatever other source you have

No, see, thats what I'm trying to prevent. Currently the TV is acting as the center channel, but I have speakers (with my surround) that sit on the stand, under the tv, that I want the audio to come out of - so basically I want the TV volume muted and the actual audio coming out of the surround sound/reciever.

When I go to the sound settings for the TV I see the option for TV sound or external speakers, but the Reciever and another option (I forgot which it was) is greyed out.

So I don't know if it's a wiring thing or a settings thing :(
