So I'm looking to getting a new Window's laptop to take to work as well as play games on when I'm away from my desktop. Right now I'm looking into the Lenovo Y500 or Y510p. They have the 510 for 950-1100 and I'm leaning towards that but I wanted to know if there was a significant difference with the two GTX750 dual graphics and just one GTX 750. Also would it be worth the downgrade from Haswell to Ivy bridge i7 to get the dual graphics card for 800 bucks instead of 1100. The sale from Lenovo only lasts until Sept 4, I'm not familiar with how Lenovo runs sales but I'm going to take this as something that won't happen for a bit longer.

Lenovo sales never end. It will always be there.

I would get the newer 510p. you can always buy the second gt750m,since its a separate card that you insert in the optical bay drive.

A 750m is enough to play any game, albeit at lower settings than a good desktop. It should be good for a laptop for occasional gaming especially when you also have a desktop.

Ok! Thanks for the info. Right now the only game I'm really playing hardcore is League of Legends. I might eventually use it for SWTOR or something from Blizzard. So as long as the 750m can handle League at Medium to high i'll be perfectly happy!

also the fact that I could get the Y510p again for 950 will make me not want to splurge buy until I have more extra money to throw around :)

ALthough I wonder, I play games on my macbook pro (2009) and just ordered some memory to upgrade it from 4GB to 8GB. If i plan on getting the laptop around november december is it worth it for me to install the memory or just send it back, it was only like 50 dollars.

let me tell you the y510p can play league at max settings. I have an older y580 and it has a gtx660m (weaker then 750m) and it can easily play league at the highest setting.

Also 4gb to 8gb wont make much difference, especially in games, so you should return the ram if you think you could use an extra 50 bucks

I'm just now starting to get into the whole computer world, but if I move from 4gb to 8gb of ram would it help speed up the loading process? Right now I'd be fine w/ playing games at Med settings if they would just load a bit faster. I'm tired of having to put my hamster and potato to work in order to load games haha. I'm sure that memory won't help that much since my specs are 4 years old anyways.

If your operating system is 64bit, then you would benefit from 8gb
