I was thinking of getting some 7.1 surround sound headphones but have been put off so i was wondering what a good pair would be. I currently have logitech f540's they are wireless and i hate them. A few things i would like for my new headphones would be:
1. wired. No exception lol
2. good at positional audio/ surround sound. With my current headphones in games like arma 3 if i hear a shot in the distance i hear it in one speaker and i have to keep turning my character left and right to sort off position where the audio is coming from. Is that just a issue with the game? Or the headphones?
3. is it worth buying headphones without the mic and buying mic seperately?
thanks for reading all comments appreciated

I recommend a few options here.

The best option is stereo headphones + virtual. Mulitple sound drivers pack together is a gimmick, and will provide horrible sound quality.

For stereo headphones you can get a mid-range sound card or use on-board + Razer Surround software(it works fairly well).

Audio Technica ATH-AD700
Audio Technica ATH-A700X Headphones

AKG 701/2

Sennheiser PC 360
Sennheiser PC 363D

You can also buy one of these, they are okay: http://steelseries.com/us/products/audio

You can buy a clip on mic or a desktop mic. Headset microphones tend to also be garbage.
