I just bought a new HP Laptop with a 24 GB MSSD.

I had few questions about the MSSD,
1] Why I cannot see this drive in My Computer?? Is this drive not accessible?
2] How to check if my OS is installed on this drive?
3] Finally, How can I install new things on this drive, How can we see if any space is left and how to use it beneficially?

Please help cause I am a newbie to this and thanks for your help.

OK - So, "Disk 0" looks to be your HDD and it has 5 partitions. "Disk 1" must be your mSata drive but it is only showing 3.77 GB and NO DRIVE LETTER. Is this drive supposed to be so small?

If you would like to be able to access this drive inside Windows, you must assign a drive letter to it! In the box where it says "Disk 1 Basic 3.77 GB Online" and just to the right there is a box with a blue stripe above it that says 3.77 GB Healthy (Primary Partition). Right click on this box with the blue stripe and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths". Once you have made that selection, you should see a box...

Did you buy the laptop with the MSATA SSD pre-installed or did you install the drive after purchasing the laptop? It may be as simple as assigning a drive letter to the drive in Windows.

Right click on "My Computer" and select "Manage". From the menu on the left, expand the "Storage" option and select "Disk Management". This should bring up a list of all of the drives installed on the computer. Do you see your mSATA SSD here? Does it have a drive letter assigned to it? If not, right click on the mSATA SSD and select "Change Drive Letter and Path". From there it is easy to assign a drive letter.

I hope that this helps!

You should be able to differentiate based upon capacity. The HDD should be much bigger.

Take another look at "Disk Management" Your OS will prolly be on the C: drive and it will be denoted by the notation: "Healthy (SYSTEM)".

Did you look to see if the MSATA drive has a drive letter assigned to it in Disk Management?

If it does not, hit the "Add" button and add a drive letter. After this select "OK" and your drive should now have a drive letter and you should be able to see it in Windows Explorer.

I'm sorry but I have run out of ideas on how to further diagnose/fix your problem. You have posted this problem in the Laptops/Notebooks section of the forum. If someone else does not reply here soon, I would re-post your problem in the Storage Forum: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/forum-32.html You may be able to get a better response there.

Good Luck!
