Desperately seeking help with static/crackling sound from speakers.
Hello, I have an old "Realistic sta-530 receiver. The problem is when I play music or watch a movie from my cd/dvd I get this horrible crackling/static sound through the speakers, but when I play the radio on the receiver it is fine. I thought the speakers had blown and got new ones but it is the same problem. Should I jt replace the receiver or is there a fix for this problem? Thank you for any help you can give me.

Solution
If the sound happens regardless of the volume you are playing the system then you may be overloading it at the input. You would need to reduce the output of the player (if it has a built in volume control turn it down). If it only happens at high volume the the greater dynamic range of the discs may be clipping the amp or over driving the speakers (new or old).
